Bistrot Ha is one of the clearest examples on the site of why party size belongs in the measurement. A two-top reads 13% of the dates in its window and a four-top 13%. When the bigger table reads higher, asking for it is not a compromise, it is the version of the request most likely to work.
The reason is almost certainly the room's table mix rather than anything about demand. A small dining room with a handful of four-seat tops and a bar will release those larger tables into a window where the deuces were claimed instantly. We cannot see the floor plan, but we can see the outcome, across 637,816 checks.
The rest of its profile points the same direction: 62% of its open slots are late, 10:00 PM is the most common, Tuesday is the easiest night at 10%, and Friday the hardest at 3%. So the honest plan for Bistrot Ha is a late seat on its best night, which is a very different instruction from the one a reputation ranking would give you.
The party-size guide has the cross-city version of this, and the pattern is not a rule. A few blocks north at Penny in the East Village it runs the other way, 37% for two against 10% for four. Which is the point: these are per-room facts, and they only exist because the same calendar gets checked at both sizes thousands of times.

The horizon varies more than the hour. Bistrot Ha opens 13 days out and Una Pizza Napoletana 14, while Golden Diner reaches 29 days and Essex 31. Ha's Snack Bar sits at 20 and Forsythia at 21. Setting an alarm a month ahead for a room that never books past two weeks is wasted effort, and it is the most common mistake people make on this street.
For the middle of the list the drop is a real strategy: Forsythia, Kisa, and Sami & Susu all leave tables standing. Forsythia runs the other way and is the most useful counterexample. Its most common open seat is 5:30 PM, the latest we have seen is 9:45 PM, and 28% of its slots are prime time. Combine that with 70% of dates open for two and a Wednesday figure of 70%, and an early dinner at Forsythia is one of the easiest good meals on the Lower East Side.
Kisa and Essex are the wide rooms. Kisa spans 11:00 AM to 9:30 PM, with 48% of openings early, and Essex spans 11:00 AM to 10:30 PM with 6:00 PM most common. Those are the two to name when a group cannot agree on a time, because the measured range is genuinely broad rather than a menu of one late table.
Closed nights matter as much as hours, and they are where alerts get wasted. In our record: Bistrot Ha on Sundays or Mondays and Ha's Snack Bar on Sundays. Golden Diner reads 8% on Saturdays, so aim at a Tuesday instead.
