How many reservation guides does SnagRes have?

SnagRes publishes more than 100 guides covering hard-to-book restaurants, neighborhoods, cuisines, release timing and booking platforms. The city playbooks cover New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Chicago, and availability figures come from the tracker rather than reputation.

Which cities do the guides cover?

New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Chicago. SnagRes tracks 284 restaurants in total: 84 in New York, 60 in San Francisco, 72 in Los Angeles and 68 in Chicago. Every restaurant also has a city-specific alert page with its current measured availability.

Do the guides tell me the exact release time?

Where it is confirmed, yes. The schedule currently contains 88 restaurant rules, each sourced from the restaurant's booking listing or website. A page leaves the time blank when the restaurant has not published one rather than turning an observed scrape time into a release claim.

What is the fastest way to actually get a hard table?

Set an alert. 38 of the 283 measured restaurants showed a 0% open rate for a party of two, meaning nothing in their visible booking window was openly bookable at the last check, so nearly every seat at those rooms comes from a cancellation at an unpredictable hour. Being told the moment one appears beats refreshing the app by hand.

How do the guides measure how hard a restaurant is?

By open rate: the share of a restaurant's visible booking window that held at least one bookable table at the last check, measured for a party of two and reported separately for a party of four. It sits on 61,530,416 availability checks and counting. A 0% open rate does not mean nobody eats there. It means a released table almost never stays open long enough to be found.

Which city is harder to book, New York or San Francisco?

New York, by the measurements. New York restaurants on our list average a 36% open rate with 23 of 84 at 0%, while San Francisco averages 60% with 6 of 60 at 0%. For the other two cities we track, Los Angeles averages 62% and Chicago 67%. 56 of the 84 New York rooms book on Resy, which mostly releases on a rolling daily window rather than in batches, so there is rarely a scheduled drop to race for.

Which booking platform has the most availability?

OpenTable. Across the 283 measured rooms in all four cities, the average open rate runs OpenTable 65%, Resy 58%, Tock 39% and SevenRooms 32%. Rooms at 0% for two: 18 of 168 on Resy, 7 of 59 on OpenTable, 7 of 28 on Tock and 6 of 28 on SevenRooms.

Why can I never get a 7 PM table anywhere?

Because prime time is the first thing to go and often the only thing that never comes back. Across the 266 rooms with enough slot-level history, the 7:00 to 8:30 PM window accounted for an average of just 27% of the times we saw open, and at 18 of them it accounted for none at all. Cote has a 0% open rate and a 0% prime-time share.
