OpenTable, and only OpenTable. Angler moved off Tock, and every one of its old Tock links is dead, so older guides pointing at Tock are out of date. There is no second booking site and no phone list, which means OpenTable is both where availability appears and where cancellations reappear.

Angler is easier to book than its reputation suggests. In the 30-day window we last read, it showed a table for two on 26 of 30 dates, which is 87%, and a table for four on 26, which is 87%. Most nights had something on them, which is not the closed calendar people expect at a room this talked about.
We can put a number on it because we have counted. Angler has been through 252,048 availability checks in our records, every date in its booking window, both party sizes, around the clock. The figure moves as the calendar moves, so read it as the shape of this room rather than a promise about one specific Friday.
It is not wide open either. Over the whole record, 92% of dates opened at some point, so a few nights never showed anything for two. Angler sits in the usually bookable band, rarely guaranteed on a date you cannot move.
Measured the same way, Boulevard, a few minutes along the Embarcadero, shows a table on 87% of dates. Saison, the older sibling of this kitchen, is at 63%. Benu is at 30% and Cotogna at 20%. One method, one window, rooms that behave nothing like each other.

Angler moved onto OpenTable from Tock and every one of its old Tock links is dead, which is why older advice about where to look for it sends people to the wrong app.
Availability also sits well inside that far edge, often on dates only days away. Nobody needs to set an alarm to eat at this restaurant.

Open OpenTable, pick your night, and book it. If your first choice is full, moving the dinner by a day costs you less than waiting for a cancellation.
If the date genuinely cannot move, a cancellation is the way in, and that is the only part of this you cannot do by sitting down at a laptop. Freed seats surface at whatever hour somebody's plans change, and each one is bookable by whoever reaches it first. We track 284 restaurants across New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Chicago, 60 of them in San Francisco. That list is deliberately short. A service advertising 62,198 restaurants cannot tell you that Angler's most common opening is 8:30 PM, or which night of the week runs ahead there, because nothing is checking any one of those rooms often enough to know. Getting to statements that specific has taken us 61,530,416 availability checks.
Where we do not know, this page says we do not know. There is no confirmed release hour for Angler here, no phone-line trick we have not verified, and no claim about the menu or the price, because none of that is something we measure.
